About Pitchledger

Last updated: 12 October 2026

Bookmakerfootballexpert.com publishes independent editorial analysis of the United Kingdom football betting market. The site exists to give adult British punters a clearer view of what UKGC-licensed bookmakers actually do, how prices are formed, and how the regulatory environment is changing. We treat football betting as a market to be understood rather than a product to be sold.

What we publish

Pitchledger covers four overlapping subject areas: the structure of the UK football betting market, including operator share, gross gambling yield and product mix; the mechanics of bookmaker pricing, including overround, margin formation and market efficiency; the regulatory environment, including the UK Gambling Commission, the statutory levy and Financial Risk Assessments; and the integrity landscape, including match-fixing detection and the offshore market.

Articles are written for an adult audience aged eighteen or over, in British English. Where numbers appear, they come from documented public sources. Where opinion is offered, it is labelled as such.

Editorial methodology

Pitchledger’s editorial methodology is documented in this section so that readers can judge for themselves how the published analysis is produced.

Sources

The factual claims on this site are drawn from a small number of authoritative public sources, chosen for their independence and their willingness to publish raw data: the UK Gambling Commission, the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities, the Office for National Statistics, the Betting and Gaming Council, GamCare, Sportradar’s integrity reporting, parliamentary publications such as Hansard, and the academic and industry research that those bodies cite.

Where a claim involves a financial figure, a market share or a regulatory deadline, we name the source and the date in the surrounding text. Where a claim involves a quotation from a regulator or industry figure, we identify the speaker and the original publication context.

Verification

Every claim of fact published on the site is checked against the primary source before publication. Where a primary source is unavailable, the claim is rewritten to reflect what the secondary source actually says, with appropriate hedging. Where two reputable sources conflict, the article notes the conflict rather than picking a side.

Numerical claims are double-checked at the publication stage and at the next scheduled review of the relevant article. Articles are reviewed at least annually, and more often when a regulatory milestone changes the underlying facts.

Editorial independence

Pitchledger is not owned by, controlled by, or operated by any gambling operator. The editorial team chooses its own subjects and reaches its own conclusions. Where the site discusses individual operators, the analysis is based on publicly observable product behaviour and reported market data, not on any commercial relationship.

Affiliate relationships, where they exist, are disclosed on the legal notice page. No affiliate relationship determines the editorial conclusion of an article. Operators do not get to read, review or veto coverage before publication.

Authorship

Articles published on Pitchledger are produced by the site’s editorial team, drawing on the documented sources described above. Where a piece refers to “the analyst” or to a specific authorial voice, the editorial responsibility for that piece rests with the editorial team as a whole, not with any one named individual. The editorial team writes under the Pitchledger masthead.

What we do not do

Pitchledger does not offer betting tips, predictions or selections. We do not run a tipping service, a copy-trading service or a private prediction channel. We do not accept payment from gambling operators in exchange for favourable coverage. We do not target or knowingly publish content for readers under the age of eighteen.

The site does not provide financial, legal or tax advice. Decisions to place a bet, to open or close a bookmaker account, or to act on regulatory information remain the reader’s own decisions, made on the reader’s own responsibility.

Corrections

If you spot a factual error in an article, please get in touch through the contact route listed on the cookie-policy or privacy-policy pages. We correct factual errors promptly and note the correction at the foot of the article in question, with the date the correction was made.

Safer gambling

Gambling is a recreational activity for adults aged eighteen or over. If gambling is causing harm to you or someone you know, free and confidential support is available from GamCare (gamcare.org.uk and the National Gambling Helpline) and from GambleAware (begambleaware.org). Self-exclusion across UK-licensed gambling sites is available through GamStop.
